Coffee
Coffee is scientifically classified as Coffea, belonging to the family Rubiaceae.The two most widely cultivated species are Coffea arabica (Arabica) and Coffea canephora (Robusta).

- Global coffee prices remain high due to supply shortages caused by severe weather disruptions in major coffee-producing countries.
- Karnataka continues to be India’s largest coffee-producing state, accounting for approximately 2.46 lakh hectares of the country’s 4.65 lakh hectares under coffee cultivation.
- Karnataka’s coffee production is estimated to increase from 2.56 lakh tonnes (2024–25) to 2.80 lakh tonnes (2025–26 post-blossom estimate).
- Growth is driven mainly by Robusta, while Arabica production remains more volatile due to erratic weather conditions.
- The major coffee-growing districts in Karnataka are Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Hassan, with Kodagu contributing the largest share of production.
